Homemade Pasta Sauce step-by-step

Ingredients for Homemade Pasta Sauce

Canned Tomatoes +/- 3 pounds +/- 1.5 kilo
Olive Oil 1 tablespoons 1 tablespoons
(red) Onions 2x any size 2x any size
Garlic 5 cloves 5 cloves
Dried Oregano 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon
Dried Basil 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon
Salt & Pepper A pinch A pinch
Anchovies 1 small can 1 small can
Brown sugar or Honey 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon
Cream 3 ounces 100 ml
Sundried tomatoes 3 ounces 100 grams

Homemade Pasta Sauce Preparation

  • Cut the onion in small pieces
  • Cut the garlic in small pieces
  • Chop the olives in half
  • Cut the sundried tomatoes in small pieces
  • Cut the anchovies in pieces

Homemade Pasta Sauce Cooking Instructions

  1. Fry the onion a little on medium fire with the oil! About 5min will do
  2. When the onion start to get a bit transparent add: the garlic; olives; sun-dried tomatoes;  and the anchovies!
  3. After about 2min add the dried herbs & stir!
  4. Add, again after about 2min, all of the canned tomatoes! Stir again good! Better too much stir than not enough stirring!
  5. Put the sauce on the low heat you have and let it simmer for about 1 hour till the sauce darkens a bit and becomes thicker. Just have a look every 20min and taste a little.
  6. Add the cream after about 1 hour! Now, you don’t need to blend the sauce, but if you have an immersion blender at home then use it! It will make the sauce smoother!
